Did you know about the BTI Global Hotel programme?

The BTI Global Hotel Programme is the travel industry's premier hotel savings programme, designed to provide our customers with the best possible options to meet their cost savings goals.

All the hotels in our program have agreed to stick to strict pricing requirements, which state that BTI's customers will always have access to the lowest price available from any travel management company worldwide. At the same time, these rates will be available on a 'Last Room Availability' basis. Therefore as long as the hotel has standard, run-of-the-house rooms available, or the category of room contracted, they will be offered the BTI rate.

BTI customers that use one of the major internet-based, self-service reservations systems can access the BTI Global Hotel Programme. One can make hotel bookings online providing that the system is fully connected to a major GDS and the correct setup is completed. Log on to www.btihotels.com or ask me for more details.

On another note, BTI Asia Pacific is a sponsor of and will be showcasing their technology at the Association of Corporate Travel Executive's Asia Pacific Conference on the 24th and 25th of August, at the Grand Hyatt in Singapore. BTI Singapore is actively involved in the event. We hope that you will also attend what is rapidly becoming an essential calendar event on the corporate travel managers agenda. BTI customers enjoy discount rates. Please visit page three to learn more.

Travel Can Still Mean Healthy Eating

--Robert Preidt / Forbes

When you pack your bags, you might want to include these tips from the dietary counseling staff at the Pennington Biomedical Research Center on how to eat healthy while you travel.

Plan ahead by familiarizing yourself with places you might be able to eat at while you're on the road and when you reach your destination. Look for eateries that serve fruit, soup and sandwiches. Enjoy local fresh food.

Read menus carefully and avoid foods high in fat, including items that are fried, buttery, au gratin, rich, creamy and breaded. Don't assume a food item is healthy just because it has chicken or vegetables. Ask servers about sauces, toppings and preparation methods.

If you're at a fast food restaurant, look for healthy food choices.

Pay attention to portion sizes. Consider splitting an entree with another person. Most restaurants serve portions that are far larger than the recommended size.

Be wary when choosing a salad. Some salads have more calories than a cheeseburger. Avoid: salads with cheese, ham, egg and bacon; Mediterranean salads with lots of feta and pine nuts; and taco salads with cheese, refried beans, guacamole and sour cream.

When you make your [travel] plans, consider renting accommodations that include some kind of kitchen facilities. That way, you'll be able to make your own healthy meals.

Watch your alcohol consumption. Avoid hard liquor and sweetened drinks, and select light beer or wine instead.

Incorporate physical activity into your [travel] plans.

Air India
Air India introduced a direct flight from Kolkata to London. The new flight, which is being operated on the Delhi-Dhaka-Kolkata-London route on thrice weekly basis on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, will also provide connectivity between Delhi-Dhaka; Dhaka-Kolkata and Dhaka-London.

Asiana Airlines
Asiana has won the distinguished award of the "World`s Best Cabin Staff" in the SKYTRAX 2004-2005 traveler survey. Asiana was also voted as one of the "World's Ten Best Airlines" in this same survey. SKYTRAX, the world leading airline quality monitoring organization, interviewed the planet's most experienced flyers on their perceptions of the 16 quality attributes of the industry's cabin staff. And Asiana came out on top of some very formidable competition.

In order to break up the monotony of long-haul flights, Asiana has trained a group of talented flight attendants to entertain and amuse. Primarily on transpacific and leisure routes, such as Bangkok, Saipan, Guam, and Sydney, customers have the opportunity to enjoy a wonderful after-dinner show of live music and magic. Flight attendants may perform stage tricks or individual hand tricks, making things magically disappear and reappear again. Customers may also have the opportunity to hear performances by a string quartet, choir, or solos on the violin, saxophone, or flute.

Asiana cabin crews are also trained bartenders who will walk through the cabin and offer some exotic cocktails. Along with a shake and a stir, enjoy your drink, the magic show, a long nap, or the upcoming movie.

The flying magic show has some special features for the children, too. Asiana crew can paint children's favorite cartoon characters or animals on children's faces. They will also make caricature drawings and offer some fun giveaway gifts.

It is the birthday celebrations that impress customers the most. Magic crews sing songs, take pictures, and on top of that, also sing some famous folk songs from various countries. As of October 1999, folksong service covers 8 countries, Korea, Japan, China, India, England, Germany, United States, and Australia.
