Bahrain airport wins top honour
MANAMA:
Bahrain has beaten off stiff global competition to win
major international airport recognition.
British
Airways in association with Bahrain Airport Services
(BAS) at Bahrain International Airport has won the award
as the best performing airport for Summer 2005.
"It
is well deserved by the team at Bahrain International
Airport and it is a proud moment for each staff member
who has contributed towards achieving this milestone,"
said British Airways' service delivery manager Middle
East Ultan Kenny.
"Great
credit goes to Bahrain Airport Services who have played
a tremendous role in supporting the operation. I am
very grateful to the whole BAS team."
British
Airways measures airports in groups with similar structures,
passenger numbers, flights and challenges. Bahrain saw
off competition from places such as Atlanta, Baltimore,
Detroit and Orlando, who were among the top five in
the same category. The awards take into account factors
such as overall customer satisfaction at check-in, the
departure process, punctuality, baggage aspects and
the number of immigration fines.
Jamil
Al Wafa, chairman on behalf of the BAS board expressed
his thanks to Deputy Prime Minister and Transportation
Minister Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, the Civil
Aviation Under-Secretary Captain Abdul Rahman Al Gaoud
for their support to the entire BAS operation.
Mr
Wafa also thanked Ray Sayer, chief executive officer,
the executive management and the entire BAS team for
their untiring efforts in achieving such an excellent
international recognition.
