26-10-2005: AirAsia launches "To Bali With Love" campaign

AirAsia and its sister company in Indonesia, PT AWAIR, have launched a massive regional campaign to boost tourism in Bali following the Oct 1 terrorism incident on the island.

In a statement, AirAsia said they had collectively to date given away 12,000 free seats to Bali to members of the public in the programme themed "To Bali With Love".

It said Oct 25 marked the culmination of the month-long campaign, where AirAsia and AWAIR had gathered a group of prominent leaders from Malaysia and Indonesia, consisting of top executives, media owners, TV personalities and local artistes, to fly to Bali to lend their support.

Tourism employs 1.3 million Balinese from a total population of 3.3 million. Foreign exchange earnings from tourism in Bali represent on average over 25% of the total national foreign exchange earnings from the sector.

The AirAsia group in total operates five daily flights to Bali - twice from the KL International Airport and three daily flights from Soekarno Hatta International Airport in Jakarta.
