Welcome to the October online Communiqué.

General Manager, BTI Singapore

In Airline News this month, Cathay Pacific has enhanced their business class offering and Emirates, under instruction from the Dubai Airports Authority, has reduced the maximum weight for one piece of luggage to 32 kilos.

Lufthansa has added 8 additional flights to its Asia Pacific Shedule; Thai Airways has added more flights to its Winter Schedule and AirAsia's AWAIR is now flying return to Kuala Lumpur's International Airport from three ports in Indonesia. Japan and Korea Airlines are code-sharing more flights; India's Jet Airways now flies direct between Delhi and London and Tiger Airways now flies from Singapore to Kolkata.

Hong Kong Express, a new airline which aims to carry business travellers from Hong Kong's Chek Lap Airport to Guangzhou and Hangzhou has launched.

In somewhat odd news from airlines, Singapore Airlines, in a clear move to seduce first class passengers, is now issuing Givenchy Sleeping Suits whilst increasing their Fuel Surcharges to all passengers. Virgin Atlantic is offering passengers Mind Training Technology from Inner Talk so that you can chase away those work demons and get a decent sleep (so they say).

And finally, US Airways is now the largest low cost carrier in the USA, having completed its merger with America West. For details about all Airline stories, click on the Airlines link on the left menu.

Airport News features the KLM Crown Lounge at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, which has been considerably expanded and now offers a fully refurbished interior and improved catering service. Airlines are advising that when travelling from the Philippines and Manila, make sure that you leave at least four hours before your flight departs the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in order to have sufficient time to go through stringent security measures. Changi Airport will launch self help kiosks in 2006.

In Hotel News this month, Shangri La New Delhi hotel has had its soft opening pending the official opening in November. We continue to feature the Langham Place Hotel and this month we focus on their Blissful Bed. The InterContinental Hotels Group is boasting China's first Venice themed business hotel, the Crowne Plaza Shenzhen which is apparently a very nice place to stay. Learn more about these stories by clicking on the Hotel link in the left menu.

BTI has amazing Holiday Offers this month. SriLankan Airways is selling incredible Golf Packages to its Golf Festival, but hurry it is on soon! Qantas is also boasting it super saver deals for a limited time this month, for travel before November 15, for packages to Australia, New Zealand and Noumea.

In Travel News, check out the VISA Golf Program for Premium Cardholders. Dollar Rent A Car has opened in Abu Dhabi, Singapore has implemented the APEC Business Travel Card and learn about what travel gadgets you should own to make your life easier on the road in our Cool Tech Travel Gadgets roundup.

Don't miss the BTI (UK) Hotel Survey in this months Travel Services. Apparently hotels in Moscow are the world's most expensive.
