Singapore Airlines passengers with connections on Star Alliance partner airlines, will now only require an interline electronic-ticket (e-ticket) for the entire journey.

“Through the expansion of interline e-ticket arrangements with our Star Alliance partners, Singapore Airlines is able to offer our passengers the conveniences associated with paperless travel to more destinations”.

“Together with Singapore Airlines' automated check-in options, travel will be hassle free,” said Singapore Airlines Executive Vice-President, Marketing and the Regions, Mr Huang Cheng Eng.

Additionally, Singapore Airlines' Kris Flyer members and frequent flyer members of the participating partner carriers will be able to redeem their frequent flier miles towards e-ticketed interline travel.

Singapore Airlines first launched its interline e-ticket programme in April 2005 with United Airlines. With this expansion, the airline now partners twelve carriers to offer this service.

Singapore Airlines has offered e-tickets to passengers since 1997, and aims to issue only e-tickets by mid-2007.

Adelaide now has 5 weekly flights, with the addition of a weekly service on Monday.

SQ225/224 return to Perth will operate as a third daily service, effective 30 October 2005 till 27 January 2006.

Effective 30 Ocotber 2005, Taipei will have 17 weekly flights with the addition of a thrice weekly service. The new schedule, SW876 departs Singapore at 1115 and arrives in Taipei 1545. The return flight, SQ875 departs Taipei 1650 and arrives in Singapore at 2125. SQ876 and 875 will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Travellers now stand the chance to win a trip on Singapore Airlines to a destination of choice when travelling through Singapore Changi Airport from now until 30 November 2005.

‘The A380 Experience Starts In Singapore’ Quiz-and-Draw is the first in a series of promotions in the lead up to the arrival of the world’s first fully double-decker Super Jumbo aircraft, the Airbus A380, in Singapore. The competition is jointly organised by Singapore Airlines and the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS), which develops and manages Singapore Changi Airport.

Up for grabs for participants are three prizes:

1st prize: A pair of Raffles Class round-trip tickets anywhere on the Singapore Airlines network
2nd prize: A pair of Economy Class round-trip tickets anywhere on the Singapore Airlines network
3rd prize: A pair of Economy Class round-trip tickets between Singapore and any Southeast Asian destination in the Singapore Airlines network

To qualify, participants simply need to answer two short questions related to Singapore Airlines and Singapore Changi Airport’s preparations for the A380’s arrival in Singapore. The winners will be selected at random from an audited draw of all correct entries.

Contest forms are available at all CAAS Information and Customer Service Counters within the airport’s transit areas of both Terminals 1 and 2. When completed, forms should be dropped off at the designated collection box in front of the Singapore Airlines A380 model aircraft on display along the main shopping belt in Terminal 2.

Singapore Changi Airport will be the first airport in the world to receive the A380. Singapore Airlines will operate the inaugural commercial service of this aircraft soon after it arrives in Singapore at the end of 2006.

CAAS is spending S$60 million to get Singapore Changi Airport’s Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 ready to accommodate the A380 aircraft operations in 2006. Modifications works, which started in early 2004, include the installation of a third Passenger Loading Bridge which will allow passengers direct access to the upper deck of the A380.

Other works include the modification of gate holdrooms, widening of runway shoulders as well as runway-taxiway and taxiway-taxiway intersections. In addition, two A380-compatible freighter aircraft stands and remote aircraft parking stands have been constructed.

Singapore Airlines has 10 A380 aircraft on firm order and 15 on option. The aircraft will first be used on the Kangaroo route between Singapore, Sydney and London. The aircraft will seat less than 480 passengers in a three-class configuration, although it has been designed to accommodate 555 passengers in the same layout.
