Singapore's Valuair scores a first with launch of in-flight
magazine V and was recently voted Asia's Number Two
low-fare airline by SKYTRAX World Airline Awards 2005.
In
a first for a non-full service carrier, Valuair unveiled
the inaugural issue of its monthly in-flight magazine
V to invited guests at a launch recently. The magazine
will be available on all Valuair flights. In addition
to destination, beauty, heath, lifestyle food and technology
information, passengers will also have an in-flight
shopping catalogue, menu and entertainment guide at
their fingertips.
"Having
created a new market space lying between the full service
and low cost segments, this new advertising campaign
and inflight magazine in essence represents our coming
of age. We have been operating for more than a year
now, chalking up close to one billion available seat
kilometers, and we're here for the long haul,"
said Mr Lim Chin Beng, Chairman of Valuair. "Unlike
budget airlines, we are in the business of offering
a unique flying experience which combines the best of
the low cost and full-service models. We are the airline
of choice for the smart traveler."
The
launch of V follows the recent introduction of PEA,
or Personal Entertainment Appliance, Valuair's own in-flight
entertainment system available on selected flights for
a nominal fee.
"The
latest series of developments underscore our commitment
to continually enhance the Valuair experience through
the introduction of innovative offerings for our passengers,"
said Mr Lim. "Low fare does not necessarily mean
no frills... there are full service airlines, budget
airlines and then there is Valuair."
